Genoa

Genoa (Genova) lies in the centre of Liguria the crescent moon-shaped coastal region of north west Italy that stretches from France to Tuscany. Genoa is Italy's main sea port and is the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. It was made a European Culture Capital in 2004 and has a wealth of churhces, museums and palaces. It is also the ideal location for visiting the rest of Liguria and the famous Cinque Terre, including the jetsetters' favourite, Portofino.
